Kathmandu city is the head of state cultural and economic hub of Nepal and is well thought-out to have the most advanced road and rail network among municipal areas in Nepal.
From the point of view of tourism, economy and cultural heritage, the sister cities of Patan(Lalitpur) and Bhaktapur are important to Kathmandu. Kathmandu, as the gateway to Nepal Tourism, is the spiritual center of the country’s economy.
Kathmandu is the capital and largest metropolitan city of Nepal. The city is the municipal central part of the Kathmandu Valley in the Himalayas, which also contain two sister cities namely Patan or Lalitpur, 5 kilometers (3.1 m) to its southeast and Bhaktapur, 13 kilometers (8.7 mi) to its east. It is also acronymic as ‘KTM’.
The city stands at an elevation of approximately 1,400 meters (4,600 ft) in the bowl-shaped valley in central Nepal surrounded by four major mountains, namely: Shivapuri, Phulchowki, Nagarjun, and Chandragiri. It is inhabited by 1,081,845 (2011, Central Bureau of Statistics) people.
The Kathmandu valley with its three districts including Kathmandu District accounts for a population density of only 97 per square kilometers whereas Kathmandu metropolitan city has a density of 13,225 per square kilometers. It is by far the largest urban agglomerate in Nepal, accounting for 20% of the urban population in an area of 5,067 hectares (12,520 acres) (50.67 square kilometers (19.56 sq mi).
Kathmandu is not only the capital of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal but also the headquarters of the Central Region (Madhyamanchal) among the five development regions constituted by the 14 administrative zones of Nepal located at the central part of the country. The Central region has three zones namely, Bagmati, Narayani, and Janakpur. Kathmandu is located in the Bagmati Zone.
Kathmandu, as the gateway to Nepal Tourism, is the nerve center of the country’s economy.
The city’s wealthy history is nearly 2000 years old, as incidental from writing in the valley. Its religious affiliation is dominantly Hindu followed by Buddhism. People of other religious beliefs also live in Kathmandu giving it a cosmopolitan culture. Nepali is the common language of the city, though many speak the Nepal Bhasa Newari as it is the center of the Newar people and civilization. English is understood by all of the educated population of the city.

Mountain Hotspring Tour
Although it is very little known, there is quite a number of natural hot water springs scattered around the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal. Mineralogists estimate of having at least 50 hot water springs in the land belt stretching between the Himalayan and mountain regions. These hot water springs are locally known as Tatopani simply meaning ‘hot water’.
A list of natural hot springs located in various parts of Nepal:
- Hotiyana in Sankhuwasabha, Koshi zone, Eastern Nepal. Syabrubesi and Chilime in Rasuwa, North of Kathmandu.
- Tapoban in Bajhang district
- Jomsom and Dhima in Mustang.Chame and La Ta in Manang district
- Dhanachauri (Luma) and Tila river in Jumla
- Srikaar, Sina and Chamlaiya in Darchula.
- Riar, Saghu Khola, Sarai Khola in Middle development region of Nepal
- Bhurung, Do Khola, Singha, Chhumrung and Dhadkharka in Myagdi district.
- Bhulbhule Khar in Tanahu district.
In Srinagar, Bhurung, Sanghu Khola, Syabrubesi and Chilime springs, the water temperature is found to be in the range of 42c to 73c.
In other springs listed above, natural hot water of up to 100c flows out. It is believed that taking a bath in these springs cures paralysis, rheumatism and other diseases relating to a bone, joints, skin, etc. Local residents around these springs often celebrate festivals in which they take bath and drink the spring water rich in phosphorus and salt with the hope to cure their ailments and remain healthy.
The most famous hot springs in Nepal are at Tatopani, near the Friendship Bridge across the border of Nepal and China at the end of Kodari (Arniko) Highway and another one on the Annapurna Circuit. The hot water spring of Beni Bazar in Myagdi district which is about 244 miles (390 kilometers) west of Kathmandu is also quite well-known. Almost 60,000 people all over the country visit this spring that can hold up to 100 people at the height of 2,743 meters (9,050 feet).

Nepal is known as the land of Himalayas world over. There are 1,310 peaks above 6000 meters of which 238 are already opened for climbing. Likewise, out of fourteen 8000 meters above peaks eight of them, including the highest peak in the world, Mount Everest lie in Nepal. Other seven are namely Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Annapurna.
Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu airport and transfer to the hotel then rest of time is free
Day 02: Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley inclusive of Buddhanath Stupa (one of the biggest Buddhist stupa in Nepal, where also you will be able to see many monks and Tibetan peoples), Pasupatinath (one of the most important Hindu Temple of God Shiva, where dead body also cremate), Bhaktapur City (Among three oldest cities is one of the interesting city, where visitor can see fifty five wood carving windows palace, a lot of pottery clubs, many temples and a lot of wood carving place), Patan City (Also one of the city like Bhaktapur where you will be able to see a HinduTemple call God Krishna Temple and Many others as well as A Buddhist Temple call Golden Temple ) & Swyambhunath Stupa (One of oldest Buddhist Stupa situated at the highest place in Kathmandu Valley, from where you can see the scenery of Kathmandu Valley, as well as some mountain peaks also if weather is nice) .
Day 03: After breakfast drive or fly to second beautiful city of Nepal: Pokhara overnight at hotel.
Day 04: After breakfast drive to Nayapul and trek to ulleri overnight there at Lodge or Tented Camp.

Day 03:- Wake up early in the morning. Have a breakfast at the hotel. Walk to Tourist bus station bout 10-15 minutes with your trekking guide. Tourist bus departs for Pokhara at 7 o’clock. Enjoy seven our scenic drive. The bus stops half an hour nearby highway restaurants on the way for lunch. You will be reached at Pokhara around 2 o’clock. Check in at Pokhara hotel. The rest of the day is free. O/n at hotel in Pokhara
Day 04:- After breakfast, take one hour drive to Nayapul. After you reach Nayapul, you will start your trekking slowly. After 20-minutes walking along the Modi stream, you will reach at Birethanti – a beautiful village that has plenty of tea shops and guest houses. Then follow the left route through the village. Your trek continue heading to Ulleri following the bank of the Burungdi stream. You will climb slightly up to the valley of Hile (1495 meters) and Tikhedhunga (1525 meters). The trail leads steep up to Ulleri (2073 meters), a large beautiful Magar village. Ulleri is stopping point for today. O/ n at mountain lodge
Day 05:- After breakfast you start your walking. Today the trail leads you to the Ghorepani, one of the popular destinations of Annapurna region situated at an altitude of 2856 meters. You should gently ascend up to Banthanti (2250 meters) through Oak and rhododendron forest. Then continue trek towards Ghorepani through Nangeythanti (2460 meters). Today you will walk approximately 5 hours. O/ n at mountain lodge
Day 06:- Early in the morning climb up to Poon Hill (3210 meters) to see the panoramic views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himalayan ranges as well as exciting sunrise view over the Himalayas. After experiencing the great views of Himalayan panorama from Poon Hill, you descend to Ghorepani.
After breakfast, continue downhill trek to Tatopani . The trail goes along the ridges of rhododendron and pine forest till the Tatopani bank of the Kaligandaki. O/ n at mountain lodge
Day 07:- The new motor road access to the Beni, those short of time to make dramatic and at times unnerving exit down the Kali Gandaki to Beni. It is large rapidly expanding trading town.
From Tatopani few minutes drive three is great view of Fang and ahead is a spectacular narrow defile where the Kali Gandaki is almost choked off. Drive through the Tipyang 1040 m, offers basic lodge and refreshment, continuous drive Beg Khola valley and forever on to Galeshwar and Beni 830m. Explore the Beni Bazaar.

Day 08:- After breakfast drive Beni- Pohara road is still not sealed as far as the baglung turn-off , a rough 40m drive. From Kushma the driving is smooth and good road to Pokhara.

Phewa Lake
Phewa is the second largest lake in Nepal and lying at an altitude of 784 m (2,572 ft) it covers an area of about 4.43 square km (1.7 sq mi). Annapurna looms in the distance from the lake and the lake is famous for the reflection of Mount Machapuchare on its surface.
Barahi Temple: The Holy Barahi Temple is situated on an island of Phewa lake. Barahi is one of the Asta matrices, a group eight mother goddesses in the Hindu religion.
Davis Falls: It was named after Mrs Davi, a Swiss tourist which her husband overflow the waters swept his wife down the waterfall. An interesting aspect of the falls is that the water travels through a natural tunnel prior.
Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave: It is a beautiful cave just opposite to David Fall. A giant stalagmite within this cave is honoured as a Shiva lingam and the devout flock here to pray.
Bindhya Basini Temple: It is most sacred temples in Pokhara city. It was built during the 17th century. This temple is consecrated to Durga. The devotees worship the saligram or ammonite fossil placed here in her name. O/n at hotel in Pokhara
Day 09:- After breakfast walk to tourist bus station with trekking guide. Then set for Kathmandu. After reach in Kathmandu, you will be taken to your hotel at Kathmandu. Have a rest. In evening you can stroll around Thamel, the major tourist destination of Kathmandu. You can do some last minute shopping of souvenirs for your family and relatives. O/n at hotel in Kathmandu
Day 10:- Rest day in Kathmandu and shopping in the Thamel area if you need to support for shopping please contact with your guide and he will help you for shopping.
Day 11 :- Today is your the last day in Nepal. Our officer will come to meet you at the hotel to escort you to Kathmandu International Airport for your flight to home.

Dammaru Niraula was our guide and confidant for our recent visit to Nepal. We went on a humanitarian visit to build a hothouse in the village of Phortse in the Khumbu region of Nepal but also included some trekking on a personal level before and after our project. Dammaru was a vital link in getting the project off the ground and then as a support person in Nepal before, during and after. He completed the following tasks with the utmost professionalism and patience. Arranged transfer of a large number of funds from Australian bank account to Nepalese bank account. Communications with the village before we arrived to ensure the walls were built. Organized our itinerary and necessary bookings for the trekking part of our journey for 8 adults. Once we arrived in Nepal he then assisted us in purchasing all the gear we needed for the finishing of the hothouse. e.g. Polycarbonate roof sheeting and the many other bits of hardware necessary. Transport of the roofing etc to Phortse village via helicopter, plane, yak, and porter. As well as being a part of the project Dammaru also was our trekking guide for the duration of our trip of 5 weeks. He organized everything for us from the hotel, in Kathmandu and everything in between our trek to base camp. He is honest, reliable and always puts the customer first. I have had an association with Dammaru over the last three years.
My first trek with Dammaru was to the Solu Khumbu region where he tailored a trek to suit our request to climb some remote passes and stay off the main tourist routes where possible. His knowledge of the area was very impressive and his attention to our safety was always his major concern.
The second trek I did with Dammaru two years later. This trip was the culmination of a long term project to build hothouses in a village deep into the Solu Khumbu region.

During the preparations for the Hothouse project, we found Dammaru to be honest, prompt and very hardworking. He also showed a great understanding of our requests and needs for the project to be successful. During the trek, itself Dammaru co-ordinated seven of our group and six porters as well as an extra climbing guide. He also acted as a very effective interpreter and liaison with the people of the village of Phortse.
On a personal level, Dammaru is the most genuine man with a big heart. He shared the passion for our project and its humanitarian ideals. Once again our safety during the whole trek was his main concern. A phrase often used by Dammaru sums up his professional work ethic. Service is most important.

I have been trekking to Ghorepani poon hill on Jan 07 for 6 days with Mr. Dammaru. Poonhill is so beautiful, so all I can do is just taking pictures on poon hill. If you were planning to trek in Nepal, I would recommend you as one choice. His personality and professional guide skill makes me fun of Trekking and Nepal. so I am planning to go to Nepal again this August. He may meet all demand of you request on your trekking trip even though you join in the big group. Because he has more over 10 years experience of trekking guide for Many English and Japanese speaker. Actually, I have never met such a good Japanese speaker guide and I had no chance to speak in English with him.
I can recommend him to all people who need great experience guide with English or Japanese.

I was a member of a group of nine friends from Northamptonshire in 204 from the UK, on a trek of the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal. Apart from one member, we were all approaching or over the age of 60 and were all well aware of the difficulties we could encounter at Thorong La which sits at an altitude of 5,416 meters (17,769 feet).
Our group was led by Dammaru Niraula and we were most impressed by his leadership qualities. He introduced us gently to the lower altitudes and gradually encouraged us on longer and more arduous days of trekking. At Manang, he encouraged us to take a day trek up the lower slopes of Gangapurna and Annapurna III (see my photo below) and afterward to attend an altitude safety lecture in Manang. We are all convinced that, without his careful attention to altitude safety, we would not all have completed the trek over Thorong La and some of us at least would have joined the many trekkers who are forced to descend suffering from altitude sickness. We will always be eternally grateful to Dammaru and his team of Sherpas.
Like many Nepalese, Dammaru has a very quiet and gentle nature with a keen sense of humor and fun. At first, he appears to be shy and reserved but is constantly attending to the needs of his guests, assessing their temperaments and abilities and adjusting the itinerary accordingly. After a few days in his care, you come to realize that you are in the hands of an experienced, competent and understanding mountain guide.
I can recommend him too highly and know that he will continue to offer excellent trekking facilities in the Himalayas.

My husband and I embarked on a trip to Nepal in October 2006. We were hoping to avoid the large tour groups and were referred to Himalayan Holidays based in Kathmandu as a provider of customized tours. We had looked on the net to determine the tour we wanted to undertake and spoke to many people and eventually decided 6-day on Ghorepani Poon Hill trek. We live in a plain and therefore training for the trek was a challenge in itself. We spent our weekends climbing up and down a 700metre high hill that was regarded as sufficiently steep for our training needs. However, we were unsure of what to expect in Nepal and were concerned about our levels of fitness for the trek that we had in mind. We were introduced to our guide, Dammaru at the hotel we were staying in Kathmandu and our anxieties were quickly alleviated. This diminutive gentleman exuded confidence and assured us that he was able to accommodate our individual fitness levels and ensure that our time in his country was hassle free. And indeed he did! Without it being particularly noticeable, Dammaru controlled the tempo of our daily treks in order that the enjoyment factor always exceeded any physical discomfort. His relationship with the locals was both real & genuine which meant we never felt like intruders or uncomfortable in their presence. Dammaru's keen negotiation skills with the local tea house proprietors' meant the delay between arriving & unwinding from the challenges of our daily treks was minimal with the accommodation always being appropriate to our needs. His professionalism was faultless. He provided us with a wealth of information on all aspects of the history, culture, flora, and fauna of this remarkable country. Not only was he a fantastic guide, but his cheeky grin and sense of humor ensured Dammaru to be a fantastic traveling companion. Our dealings with Dammaru exceeded all expectations and we hope to make a return visit to this stunningly beautiful country.
